As we approach the end of summer 2025, Sahale Outdoors has given over $18,000 in free and discounted trips, adventures and experiences to youth in the Tacoma metro area! We have made outdoor camps, backpacking trips, and educational programming accessible to low income families, students from Title 1 schools, and children in residential shelters. We are incredibly proud of this work, and thankful for the support that has made it possible so far!

However, we need your help!

At the same time as the need for access to nature has grown, the resources and funding available have shrunk dramatically. The financial insecurity many are experiencing has impacted our funding streams significantly, as we are facing over 50% less income than the last two seasons. Increased demand on grants, foundations, and donors has meant that the already limited resources available to nonprofits is even more spread thin.

We know it’s been a challenging year for many people. Agencies and initiatives aimed at increasing equity, inclusion, and diversity in many fields are being defunded. Environmental protection laws and policies are being rejected in favor of profit. Across the country, public lands are being stripped of protection, personnel, and federal funding. Now more than ever, we believe the work we are doing to create equitable access to nature, educate young people about how and why to care for the environment, and build connections to public land like our beautiful national parks and forests, is overwhelmingly important.

Help us continue to do this work! Join us at Dacca Park in Fife for a summer picnic party celebrating the wide range of ways to engage with nature, build community, and have fun outdoors! We’ll be hosting a lawn games tournament, offering hot dogs and drinks at the concession stand, and ending the night with a karaoke battle, all to support the wellbeing of local youth, the future of the ecosystems we depend on, and the care of the public land that surrounds us.

Rules

• Tickets good for one round of the course sold on location
• Unlimited tickets: Don’t like your first score? Give it another round! Only your highest score will count towards your overall standing
• Participants 12 and up compete in the adult league, 11 and under in the kid’s league
• Free round in the kids league for everyone age 11 and under!
• Both leagues include prizes for the winners of individual events as well as the overall winners!
• Compete as individuals, or in teams of up to 4 people (Only one team member competes in a specific event per round)
• One round of the course costs $30 per person in the adult league. The first round for kids 12 and under is free, $15 for additional rounds in the kid’s league
